Divisions of the Health DepartmentThere are five divisions at the Knox County Health Department:

Administrative

Includes: the office of the Health Commissioner, Emergency Preparedness and the Office of Vital Statistics

Finance Office

Includes: billing, accounts payable, purchase requests, budgets and human resources

Environmental Health

Includes:  the inspection and issuing of permits and licenses for: Residential Sewage Systems; Private Water Wells; Food Safety Program; Campgrounds, Camps and RV Parks; Manufactured Home Parks; Public Swimming Pools and Beaches; and Tattoo and Body Piercing Parlors; plus the Solid Waste Program (nuisance complaint investigations), Vector Control (mosquito and ticks), Radon Testing and Rabies Control and Dog Bite Investigations.

Health Promotion Services

Includes: management of educational grants; coordination of coalitions and educational presentations; participation at fairs, festivals and other events; and promotion of services and programs.

Family & Community Health Services

Includes: the Medical Clinic, Dental Clinic, WIC Program, BCMH, and Home Health Care Program.
