Suicide Prevention Coalition

Suicide Prevention Coalition Knox COunty OhioSince 1995, there have been 85 individuals in Knox County who have ended their lives by suicide. In the past five years, Knox County has experienced a significant increase in suicide. These deaths have a profound effect on the loved ones who are left behind but are also a very real loss for our community as a whole. Suicide has a ripple effect. Family members are 8.3% more likely to kill themselves if a relative has committed suicide. Even co-workers of those lost to suicide are 3.5% more likely to die by suicide. As we work with people in all aspects of suicide, we are always struck with the fact that suicides are preventable.

The Knox County Suicide Prevention Coalition was formed in 2004. Our mission is to protect and promote the health of our community through education and awareness of the risk of suicide and available community resources. Our vision is to be a caring community where all people can openly disclose, talk about and receive help for suicidal thinking and its impact on everyone.

The Knox County Suicide Prevention Coalition meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 9 a.m. at Hospice of Knox County. For more information, contact Mental Health America at 397-3088 or by email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
