The Health Center is excited to welcome Certified Nurse Midwife Marie Gerecke, MS to our practice! Marie has recently relocated back to Knox County and is excited to serve the community where she grew up.
What is a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)?
A CNM is a nurse with a masters degree and special training in women’s health. CNM’s focus on general female care throughout the whole lifespan.
What services will Marie provide?
- Annual wellness exams
- Pap tests, Cancer screenings (breast, pelvic, cervix)
- Diagnosis and treatment of common female health issues (Ex. menstrual problems, hormonal concerns)
- Pregnancy monitoring
- Postpartum care
- Menopause management and support
- General education and body positivity empowerment
- Contraceptive management
- OBGYN concerns
All services are outpatient - Marie will not be treating patients in the hospital.

Who are Marie’s patients?
As a CNM, Marie will treat women of all ages. From early teen years where education and body positivity are key throughout development, to elder care when annual exams and cancer screenings are part of routine care - female wellness and gynecological issues can be treated.

- Where did you go to school?: Mount Vernon High School, Ohio Wesleyan (undergraduate), The Ohio State University (graduate)
- Special certifications: Certified Nurse Midwife
- How long have you been practicing?: 12 years
- When did you know that you wanted to be a Midwife?: "Probably college - I started learning more about alternatives to medical school and discovered midwifery - never looked back!"
- Why do you love being a Midwife?: "I love helping women learn about and understand their bodies better, and take special pride in helping women feel very comfortable seeing me for OBGYN care."
- Is there an age group you particular enjoy caring for?: "I like a good mix of all ages to keep my day interesting, but I do enjoy teenagers and helping educate them on their bodies and become responsible young adults."
- What health conditions are you most passionate about treating?: "Menstrual problems and also trying to figure out what the best contraception would be for a woman."
