3/19/21 - The District Advisory Council (DAC) for the Knox County Combined General Health District re-appointed Jeff Harmer to the Knox County Board of Health during the council’s annual meeting March 9. The meeting was held prior to the quarterly meeting of the county township trustees at the Ramser 4-H Center. Knox County Commissioner Thom Collier, who is the DAC chairperson, presided over the meeting.
The appointment of Harmer to the board of health was made by an executive committee due to lack of a quorum.
Harmer is general manager for Apple Valley. He has been a member of the board of health since 2002 when he was a representative of the health district’s licensing council. In 2011, he became a county representative to the board.
The district advisory council is comprised of the chairman of each township’s board of trustees or a designee, the mayor of each village and the president of the Knox County Board of Commissioners. It is responsible for appointing six of the nine members to the board of health; three members are appointed by Mount Vernon City Council. Members of the board of health serve staggered, five-year terms.
