March 25, 2021

Knox County residents have asked, and Knox Public Health (KPH) has answered. Due to popular requests, KPH will offer an evening COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Wednesday, March 31st from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Knox County Career Center.

The evening clinic will better accommodate those who work during the weekly walk-in clinics, which are hosted by KPH at the Mount Vernon High School Energy Field House on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Evening clinic attendees will arrive at the Career Center, which is located at 306 Martinsburg Rd. in Mount Vernon, and enter through the south entrance near the basketball courts. Parking is available at the front of the Career Center and at the high school next door. For those with mobility issues, curbside vaccination is available by notifying the parking attendant when you arrive at the clinic.

Like the most recent vaccination clinics hosted by KPH, the Wednesday (3/31) evening clinic is on a first come, first served walk-in basis. There is no need for an appointment, and vaccines will be administered until doses are exhausted. In total, there will be more than 1,100 doses of Pfizer vaccine to administer between the morning and evening clinics.

Vaccination at KPH sponsored clinics is open to anyone age 16 and older, regardless of their residency. For individuals aged 16 or 17 years old, a parent or guardian needs to be present to complete registration and at the time of vaccination. Additionally, Pfizer vaccine must be available as it is the only vaccine with Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for individuals 16 years and older; Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine EUA forms require individuals to be 18 years or older.

Clinic attendees need to bring a photo ID and a copy of their insurance card. There are no out-of-pocket costs for the vaccine.

Vaccine consent forms are available on the health department website www.knoxhealth.com or can be picked up at any time at the health department, 11660 Upper Gilchrist Rd., Mount Vernon. Having a completed consent form prior to arriving at the clinic expedites the check-in process but is not necessary as there will be plenty of consent forms on site.
