12/30/22 - Even though the building is drying out and utilities are being restored, Knox Public Health at 11660 Upper Gilchrist Rd. will remain closed through Tuesday (1/3).
The health department and the Community Health Center located inside the Upper Gilchrist location have been closed since Dec. 27 due a waterline break inside the building over the Christmas weekend.
Health Commissioner Zach Green indicated that despite the week-long closure, the agency has been able to maintain many essential services. Medical appointments including immunizations were moved to Moore Family Practice, a health center satellite office. Mental health counselors were able to meet with patients using telehealth. Phone, voice mail and email systems were operational which enabled many staff to work remotely scheduling appointments, providing information and communicating with the public. From 9 a.m. until noon each day, birth and death certificates could be obtained from a makeshift set-up in the facility conference room.
The WIC office at 809 Coshocton Ave., other Health Center locations including dental and medical offices in Danville and the Walk-In Clinic were fully operational during the week.
Green said he was hopeful the Upper Gilchrist facility would be open after Tuesday.
